Faithful Strokes is an art studio in Murfreesboro that offers painting parties, summer camps, and art classes. My church had a painting class there and while I did learn I am unable to paint a straight line, we did have a great time and all went away with paintings that looked like what they were supposed to.
I have done some pottery painting classes before, but this is the first painting class I've taken since I was very young. The instructors are very nice and it was a fun group activity. Worth looking into if you like art and would like to try your hand at some painting.

I have a liking for tiny, niche museums. Museums dedicated to weird stuff. In this instance one woman's salt and pepper shaker collection eventually snowballed into Gatlinburg's Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum, entry fee 3 $ to view more salt and pepper shakers than I've ever seen in one place of any one has ever had a right to. Thousands of salt and pepper shakers. Salt and pepper shakers that will haunt your dreams. They are shaped like animals. They are shaped like foods. They are shaped like people. They hail from countries around the world. All of them classified by style and color and lovingly labelled as best you can thousands of salt and pepper shakers. I was personally fond of vintage pro wrestling salt and pepper shakers. And so begins my search on Ebay to find them.
For a family run museum, they curators have done their best to be informative about salt and pepper shakers and salt itself. There are informational labels in all the windows and signs that link to informative QR codes are everywhere. All in all not a bad investment for 3 $. NXT, WWE's training promotion for pro wrestlers pre going to the main roster of Smackdown and RAW, makes a pretty regular habit of stopping in Nashville. "Training" might be a bit of a stretch to try to classify some of these wrestlers under though. Many of them have been wrestling for a very long time and have more experience then some regularly seen on RAW. What that means is that you can get very good seats in an intimate atmosphere with wrestlers who are not only VERY good, but you will also probably soon be seeing on tv in a big arena. Take for example Candice Lerae and Johnny Gargano, a real life husband and wife set of wrestlers who have been doing this a long time but who, in Candice's case, were just hired by WWE. Nashville got to see the first time she and her husband were paired up to wrestle for their new promotion. Because this isn't QUITE a big arena event, NXT always books the War Memorial and puts on a heck of a show in a venue that is small enough that you can really see what's going on. The atmosphere has become even more family oriented since I went to the show they first time they came in town. The first time two years ago there were maybe a handful of kids. This time there were a ton of kids and many more women there. Apparently for pro wrestling enthusiasts it has become more known that you can get very good seats for a good price.
If you've got kids in to wrestling, it's worth taking them to this event when it comes through, generally about once a year. |
