I have a liking for tiny, niche museums. Museums dedicated to weird stuff. In this instance one woman's salt and pepper shaker collection eventually snowballed into Gatlinburg's Salt and Pepper Shaker Museum, entry fee 3 $ to view more salt and pepper shakers than I've ever seen in one place of any one has ever had a right to. Thousands of salt and pepper shakers. Salt and pepper shakers that will haunt your dreams. They are shaped like animals. They are shaped like foods. They are shaped like people. They hail from countries around the world. All of them classified by style and color and lovingly labelled as best you can thousands of salt and pepper shakers. I was personally fond of vintage pro wrestling salt and pepper shakers. And so begins my search on Ebay to find them.
For a family run museum, they curators have done their best to be informative about salt and pepper shakers and salt itself. There are informational labels in all the windows and signs that link to informative QR codes are everywhere. All in all not a bad investment for 3 $.
